MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved Tauro porch addition with environmental offset requirement. The board voted 4-0 to grant the Special Permit for a 10-by-26-foot covered porch on Beach Street, contingent on converting 447 square feet of driveway surface to pervious material. Chair Sarah Mellish raised concerns about the property's location in a high-water-table area susceptible to flooding.
The porch addition would have increased impervious surface coverage to 57 percent, well above the 30 percent zoning allowance. Georgia Pendergast will draft the written decision, with John Binieris reviewing it.
