MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Coastal Stream Team weighs water quality, plans expanded fish surveys. Chair Jessica Lamothe briefed Town Administrator Tony Barletta on the team's efforts to address long-term bacterial contamination in Kettle Cove salt marsh. Northeast Trout Unlimited is planning a grant application for an expanded eDNA survey of fish species in Essex County streams, including Sawmill Brook.
Division of Marine Fisheries officials are developing regulations to open shellfish areas near Boston that have been closed for decades, with the Salem Sound Area also of interest. The Open Space and Recreation Committee is partnering with Cape Ann Trails Association to maintain local trails and create new access to Powder House Hill.
