Committee backs relocation for DPW and Police Department

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Manchester-by-the-Sea Facilities Planning Committee weighs relocation for DPW and Police Department. The committee concluded that the town's Department of Public Works and Police Department must relocate. Director of DPW Chuck Dam outlined significant operational reasons necessitating the move, while committee member Andy Oldeman noted the Police Department cannot remain at its current site.
School Street was considered but dismissed as inefficient for either department. The Fire Department, which has constraints at its current site, will remain under continued consideration. Committee member Cathy Bilotta reported that an agreement has been signed with Mason's for the Senior-Community Center project, with initial funding from the Parks and Recreation Revolving Fund pending Town Meeting approval.
