Council on Aging backs Senior Center warrant article at April meeting

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Council on Aging backs Senior Center funding plan with multiple grant applications. The Executive Board met April 8 to discuss Warrant Article 6, which requests $350,000 from Recreation Department funds for design and pre-construction planning of a new Manchester Senior Center in the Masons building. If approved at the April 27 Town Meeting, architect John Harden will present a full design plan for the November warrant.
The town has submitted $3.15 million in grant applications—$3 million to Senator Markey's office and $150,000 to State Senator Tarr—to fund construction. The Friends of the Council on Aging, with $91,000 in assets, pledged to support Article 6 at Town Meeting.
