MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Council on Aging unanimously invites housing developers to present 40B project in September. The board voted to hear from developers of a proposed 285-unit project on Gordon College property that would include senior units, in response to discussion of a local low-income housing waiting list of 1,900. Director Mary Miner reported the Council is launching a Grief Support Group in collaboration with First Parish Church beginning in the fall for 10 to 12 weeks, and participating in a state Farmers Market program that distributes fresh produce and coupons to seniors.
The Council is considering using 75,000 dollars in state funding, sponsored by Senator Bruce Tarr, for ADA improvements to the current facility, and hired a new van driver to expand program flexibility.
