Finance Committee approves Fire, Parks budgets totaling $2.71 million

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Finance Committee approves $2.71 million in department budgets. The Committee unanimously approved the Fire Department's $2.185 million FY27 budget, which includes SAFER Grant-funded staffing increases to ensure minimum staffing of four personnel 83 percent of the time, up from 66 percent under current staffing. Four separate Parks and Recreation Department budgets totaling approximately $525,000 were also unanimously approved, including $248,798 for Singing Beach lifeguards and $32,195 for Tuck's Point and Crowell Chapel operations.
Committee Chair Sarah Mellish reported that the school district reduced its budget assessment by approximately $700,000, improving the town's financial position. The Committee also discussed but did not vote on Community Preservation Committee funding for the town's Rotunda project.
