Finance Committee reviews MERSD budget, capital projects totaling $28M

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Finance Committee examines $28 million capital agenda and regional school spending. Manchester Essex Regional School District's $33.9 million FY27 budget, serving 1,156 students, is down $600,000 from December projections thanks to increased Circuit Breaker funding, lower health insurance costs, and a reduced OPEB contribution. Finance Director Andrea Mainville projected capital projects will increase tax rates by 21 cents per thousand dollars of assessment in FY27, climbing to 80 cents per thousand by FY29; for a $1 million home, that means annual increases of $220, $483, and $840 respectively.
The Committee will vote on the capital budget and regional school district spending at its March 5 and March 12 meetings.
