Harbor panel advances Area 7 moorings, monitors dredging eelgrass impact.

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Harbor Advisory Committee endorses Area 7 moorings with Army Corps approval pending. Chair Carl Doane and the panel learned that Harbormaster Brian Pike has received positive feedback from the Army Corps of Engineers regarding installation of 38 to 48 moorings in Area 7 using a helical mooring system, with potential deployment as early as this season. The committee also reviewed dredging conditions: eelgrass must be monitored for five years, and if damage occurs, the town must plant mitigation eelgrass at four times the affected area.
The Harbormaster will offer multiple boater safety courses this year, with a deadline of April 1, 2026 for operators born after January 1989.
