Library Board approves two policies, professional development funding

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Manchester library trustees approve policy updates and fund professional development. The Board of Library Trustees unanimously approved Collection Development and Internet Access/Computer Use policies, and allocated $200 from the Winthrop fund for a March 25 professional development half-day focusing on staff training and emergency response, according to minutes from the February 13 meeting. Library Director Cynthia Gemmel reported the Finance Committee approved increasing full-time employee hours by 1.5 per week and opening Saturdays 10 AM to 1 PM during summer, pending union and April town meeting approval.

The overall budget increase was 1.74 percent, with salaries rising 1.5 percent instead of the requested 2.5 percent.
