Library Board Trustees approve director's report, plan policy reviews

Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of January 9, 2026

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Library Board of Trustees approves director's report and moves forward with policy revisions. Chair Sarah Davis, trustees David Lumsden and Ric Rogers, Library Director Cynthia Gemmel, and Friends representative Chuck Furlong met January 9 as the board unanimously backed the director's report and approved December minutes by a 2-0-1 vote. Gemmel flagged cybersecurity concerns at other municipalities and committed to meeting with the town IT provider; she also presented a budget submission noting the Town Administrator did not recommend her request for increased full-time staff hours, from 33.5 to 35 hours, though Finance Committee review remains possible.

The board will consider revised versions of the Internet Access and Computer Use Policy and Collection Development Policy at the February 13 meeting.
