Open Space Committee Approves GIS Mapping Project, Defers Trail Signage Decision

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Open Space Committee approves $280 GIS mapping project for town conservation land. Cape Ann Trail Stewards' Amy Blondin will deliver reference maps, parcel spreadsheets, and acreage calculations by July, with work starting June 7th. The Committee declined formal action on Essex County Trail Association's yield-to-horse signage but adopted painted blazes as the standard for all trails except Powder House Reservation, citing cost-effectiveness and resistance to theft.
Approximately two-thirds of prioritized trailhead signs have been installed at roughly $600 each; Highway Department official Chuck Dam signaled capacity for six additional installations after July 1st.
