MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Open Space Committee approves prior minutes and prioritizes trail improvements. Olga Hayes convened the panel to review updates on Western Woods conservation access, Dexter Pond trail clearing with an April 7 CATS invasive removal program, and new parking at Newport Park for Powder House Hill. Marc Resnick reported a January 31 MassTrails grant submission for Powder House Hill modifications with June award notifications expected; the committee weighed using Wetland Protection Act funds for tree removal work requiring chainsaws.
The committee identified 91 acres of town-owned non-conservation land and voted to dedicate its next meeting, April 23, to prioritizing landlocked parcels within existing conservation boundaries.
