MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Open Space Committee advances trail improvements across Manchester conservation areas. The committee unanimously approved prior meeting minutes and heard updates on Western Woods access improvements using Community Preservation Committee funds, ongoing trail work at Dexter Pond focused on debris removal and blaze marking, parking expansion at Newport Park for Powder House Hill access, and a MassTrails grant application due February 2 for trail modifications. The town has installed new wayfinding signs at five Powder House Hill trailheads, with plans to expand signage to Dexter Pond, Upper Pine Street, Crooked Lane, and Forest Lane under coordination by Nick de Sherbinin and the Department of Public Works, and the committee will seek a construction grant for a boardwalk over flood-prone sections of the Dexter Pond trail.
