Select Board · Meeting of June 1, 2026

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Select Board elects John Round as Chair in annual reorganization; advances permit fee increases to public comment. The Town moved to publish building permit fees at $10 per $1,000 (up from $6) and electrical permit fees at $5 per $1,000 (up from $3), expected to generate approximately $120,000 annually and fund a new assistant position in Inspectional Services. Trash bag fees advance to $15 per five small bags and $20 per five large bags, the first increase in seven years, reflecting rising sanitation contract costs.

All three advance to 30-day public comment with formal adoption anticipated in July. The Board voted unanimously to designate the Cricket as official newspaper of record and the Gloucester Daily Times as alternate.
