Select Board approves National Grid utility work, tree removal on Highland Avenue

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Select Board authorizes National Grid utility installation and removes two heritage trees for PFAS compliance project. The Board unanimously approved National Grid petition WR#31289848 to install 200 feet of underground PVC conduit on Highland Avenue and voted unanimously to fell two Red Oak trees at 40 Lincoln Street, with the town planting 32 replacement trees. The Board also voted unanimously to proclaim March 31st as Transgender Day of Visibility and to fly the transgender flag on the commemorative flagpole that day.
A financial analysis presented major FY27 capital projects totaling $29.7 million, including Lincoln Street Well/PFAS at $16.5 million, Tappan Street Reconstruction at $4.1 million, and Central Street Culvert at $5.0 million; the Board approved a $612,921 Community Preservation Committee budget allocation and noted a $580,000 budget swing from increased sanitation automation costs and reduced bag revenue.
