Stream Team Approves Fish Monitoring Funding Plan

Coastal Stream Team · Meeting of April 13, 2026

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Manchester Coastal Stream Team launches fish DNA monitoring project. Carl Soderland secured a grant from the Mass. Council of Trout Unlimited to collect environmental DNA data from three Sawmill Brook sites beginning in May, with Geof Day identifying the exact locations.

Team member Chris Comb noted privately funded underwater cameras at approximately $600 each could enhance data collection. Jessica Lamothe, the chair, will seek Conservation Commission guidance on removing golf balls from the brook. The Harbor Master Plan includes a water quality testing request for Kettle Cove.
