MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — Sustainability Committee advances spring initiatives amid grant and communications planning. Co-Chairs Sandy Rogers and Annie McBride guided discussion of a May 17 Town Cleanup with secured vendor prizes and ongoing promotion; McBride continues research into the town's 2013 plastic reduction bylaws and tracks local restaurant takeout practices. Nate Desrosiers, Town Engineer and Facilities Manager, reported that the Department of Public Works will soon release details on a smart water meter app for residential use, which the Committee will help publicize.
The Committee discussed potential grants from the Healey-Driscoll Administration for water supply and PFAS remediation, and the Hooper Fund for small projects, with no decisions rendered; three bathhouse renovation meetings are scheduled for May 28, June 11, and June 25.
